I Used the Same Sennheiser Headphones for 7 Years. Here’s Why I Bought Them Again.

INSTANT VERDICT

If you want bulletproof build quality, zero-gimmick studio sound, and a pair of headphones that will survive 7 years of daily heavy music and late-night gaming, buy these and never look back.

Frequency Response BLA BLA BLA…

Does anybody seriously care about Frequency Response, Frequency Range, Noise Isolation, 10K Hz Cut-Off fruit basket range?! OK, a few people do and actually, even I do to a certain extent, however, it’s 2026, almost every half-decent pair of reputable brand headphones on the market will deliver pretty solid sound.

You only have to care about the super technical aspects if you’re using headphones for highly technical audio work, and even then, it might not even play a factor. The simple fact is, modern headphones are often very affordable and high quality.

7-Year Durability Test: How Do They Hold Up?

So all you really need to know is; Do they sound good? Well in 2019 I bought a pair of Sennheiser 400s for around 80EUR (92USD) and they were only supposed to be a “cheap” temporary pair whilst I got my YouTube channel up and running.

I was using these to listen back to my awful, at the time, amateur voice over work, blasting some heavy ass music and also doing some gaming on the PC. (They also worked in my XBOX controller though, which was nice).

I thought to myself, “when I start making some decent money with YouTube I’ll buy a brand-spanking 300 dollar pair of bluetooth ones”. Then, I started making decent money on YouTube, I replaced my shitty laptop that took 5 hours to export a 1080p, 20 minute long video, and bought a little PC for about 900 dollars.

Then, I just kept using my Sennheiser 400s. I loved the sound quality, the feel, the comfort and the fact you could fold them up which was kind of useful for the gym. They just worked with everything, my phone, my PC, my tablet, whatever.

I held onto these for 7 years, the only reason I had to buy a new pair of headphones was, well, I accidentally broke my beloved Sennheiser’s, it was all my fault. Nothing to do with the quality of these durable headphones. OK, sure, they had a little bit of wear and tear but it was all cosmetic.

So was it finally time to buy a 3 or 500 dollar pair of insane bluetooth wireless gaming headphones? Fuck no, I bought the new version of the Sennheiser 400s again from Amazon (See Price), they were even cheaper this time around and just as good.

Summary

Great sound that includes great bass, which is a must for me. Super comfortable. I can game in these headphones for literal hours and my ears don’t feel like they've been shafted by a gang of chimps. The Sennheiser 400s are perfect for gaming, music, gym; even wearing around the house doing some cleaning.
